The title of the project:
The effect of herbicides and plant extracts on host-virus relations
Head of the project: Dr. Gabriella Kazinczi
The aim of the study is to examine the effect of herbicides - permitted in virophilous crops - and plant inhibitors on the compatible (local and systemic) host-virus relations in PPI-, pre- and postemergent applications. Besides their main effect on weeds, it will be also known the side effect of herbicides on virus replication and that well-known allelochemicals (from Abutilon theophrasti, Cirsium arvense, Asclepias syriaca) - besides their inhibitory effect on higher plants - can influence the replication of microorganisms (viruses) in the host plant or not. On the basis of the results the virus inhibitory side-effect of herbicides and allelochemicals will be known, which could be used in the practice of the integrated plant protection in order to develop antiviral complex methods.
