1. Preparation and stucture elucidation of mono- and dicis-isomers of carotenoids containing new end groups.
2. Preparation and structure elucidation of 5- or 6-hydroxy-carotenoids formed by ring opening reaction of carotenoid-5,6-epoxides with complex metal hydrides.
3. Investigation of the reactions of several 3,6-epoxy-carotenoids with acids and reducing agents.
4. Investigation of the reactions of carotenoid-epoxides with concentrated acids, acid-derivatives and Lewis-acids; preparation and structure elucidation of the products.
5. Investigation of the reactions of several carotenoids with molecular oxygen and with other oxidizing agents in different solvents. Preparation and structure elucidation of the products.
