Role of cytokinins in shoot regeneration of apple in vitro
The main task of our research work includes the study of the possibilities of usable shoot regeneration in apple cultivars, that are important in Hungary in the production or in the breeding work or that are "hungaricum". We intend to study the effects of the different types of cytokinins, which includes also newly isolated ones, on organ, tissue (histological studies) and molecular (molecular markers) levels.
- Study of the roles of different cytokinins in shoot regeneration process of the apple genotypes that are important in the breeding work in Hungary. Study of their effects on the histology of in vitro plantlets.
- Looking for molecular markers linked to shoot regeneration ability or resistance against fire blight.
- Working out methods for in vitro shoot regeneration from apple leaflets in the case of apple rootstocks and scions that are important in gene-transformation experiments and in the breeding work.
