Project details
Project reference: | IST-2001-34465 |
Acronym: | BUSIDISS |
Title: | Microsystems Awareness, DISSemination, Coordination & BUSiness Development |
Subject Index: | Information Processing, Information Systems; Innovation, Technology Transfer |
Objectives: | Objective: BUSIDISS aims to improve the supply of commercial microsystems services within Europractice by:
- informing service providers about MPW and foundry offers on a world-wide basis;
- identifying and quantifying new technologies and applications and presenting these at six-monthly workshops;
- providing business development assistance to western and NAS countries;
- organising a venture capital forum and preparing Service Providers with the requisite analysis and means to realise the full business opportunities offered by Europractice.
Objectives:
The overall objective of BUSIDISS is to ensure that Europractice partners behave in a more business-like way, that they are aware of their competitors, alert to new and emerging applications and technologies, and that their offers are focussed on market need. A secondary objective is to link the project to the already approved project AWARDEV, eliminating all project management costs by running both projects as one.
Work description:
Analysis of Europractice MPW offers and foundry competitors. Carry out an analysis of the competitors to Europractice activities, both within and outside Europe and monitor changes that could impact Europractice offers. The analysis will benchmark all organisations able to provide services similar to Europractice. Analysis of specific application and technology topics. Select six topics, prepare an analysis and present at the six-monthly EP coordination meetings. Topics to be analysed will be selected according to the needs of the Europractice Service Providers. Assistance to focus offers and develop business models. Work with EP partner organisations to provide assistance in selecting and focussing their offers to match market need. Assist where necessary to segment the market and plan the promotion and sales process. Work actively to select a business model that is sustainable and suitable for each type of partner. Extend the business assistance to the Newly Associated States (NAS) of Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Assistance for start-up companies and Venture Capital Forums. Companies ready to "start up" will be identified from within Europractice projects and by a call to the wider community. Selected organisations will be provided with assistance to prepare a business and marketing plan. An annual Forum will be organised where partners will be able to present their plans to Venture Capitalists.
Milestones:
3 reviews of EP MPW activities and a world-wide examination of their competitors, presented at annual coordination meetings.
6 analysis of application and technology topics presented to the EP partners at each of the six-monthly coordination meetings.
12 completed business development actions.
6 western and 6 NAS partners.
3 Venture Capital Forums, based on competitive selection of start-up companies, that will subsequently be assisted to prepare their business plans and review their IPR. |
